SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE

STAP Scholarship Assistance

STAP stands for Samahang Tagalog Atbp. sa Ponape, a regional association of Filipinos in Pohnpei whose primary purpose is to encourage Micronesian citizens to pursue a post-high school education by providing scholarship assistance to eligible applicants.  Any Micronesian citizen who is a high school senior, currently-enrolled college student, or high school graduate (or GED recipient) accepted to attend an institution of higher education in the State of Pohnpei FSM during the upcoming academic year will be considered.

NOTE:
For this academic year, application for scholarship and accompanying requirements
must be submitted to the STAP Scholarship Committee or any of its designated representatives on or before June 30, 2012.

AUSTRALIAN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP (ARDS)

Opening date: 22 February 2012                        Closing date: 31 March 2012

Benefits

ARDS provides the opportunity for resident citizens from the Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau to undertake studies at post-secondary education institutions in the Pacific region for study levels of Technical/Vocational, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate (up to Masters level, only).  The purpose of ARDS is to support training at the level and field of study that are expected to have the greatest developmental impact.  Because Awardees are receiving valuable training and experience, they are required to return to their home country for two years, after the completion of their studies, to apply their skills and knowledge to assist in the development of their country.

ARDS awards cover successful applicants’ tuition and institution fees, living expenses, basic overseas health coverage, tutorial assistance and economy class air travel back to your home country at the end of each year of study.  

To APPLY, fill out and submit the ARDS 2012 Expression of Interest Form - Available at the Counselor's Office, c/o Penselynn E. Sam, Counselor.

ROTARY CLUB
OF POHNPEI - FSM

College Scholarship Assistance


The Rotary Club of Pohnpei - FSM awards scholarships up to an amount of $1,000 (or $500 per semester) to each eligible applicant, pursuant to the Club's primary purpose of encouraging Micronesian citizens to pursue a post-high school education.  Any Micronesian citizen who is a high school senior, currently-enrolled college student, or high school graduate (or GED) accepted to attend an institution of higher education in the State of Pohnpei FSM during the upcoming academic year will be considered.

$10,000 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD AT THE UNIVERISTY OF GUAM
FOR TWO ACADEMIC YEARS

FRIENDSHIP SCHOLARSHIP:

Rotary Club of Tokyo Ebisu 15th Anniversary Rotary Scholar
(Academic Years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013)

PURPOSE
The Rotary International District 2750 service organization is sponsoring a scholarship program for citizens of the Micronesian Region who are officially qualified to attend the University of Guam.  The scholarship is awarded primarily to encourage students from this region to pursue a higher education and give them an opportunity to become a leader in the community.

AMOUNT AND NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS
A total award of $10,000 (less administrative processing fee) will be given to one student to cover two academic years at the University of Guam. The scholarship award will be prorated across the balance of the student awardee's undergraduate program, for a maximum of two academic years, and will be awarded at the beginning of each qualifying semester. Certification of enrollment must be provided to the scholarship committee prior to distribution of the awards.
