Assessment / SUMMER 2012 > AR 101/1 - Introduction To Art, Section 1
STUDENTS' ARTWORKS
Presented below are links to the artworks made by students of AR 101 in Summer 2012. These do not represent the students' best works. Rather, these are simply a collection of their actual output from which can be gleaned attempts (and progress) made by the students to gain an appreciation of and a basic understanding about art as a field of study through actual engagement in artistic endeavours.
On the first day of instruction, rather than giving instruction, I asked the students to draw – using pen or pencil (or both) and white bond paper – anything they wanted to draw. Some students were surprised, others protested. "Aren't you first going to teach us how to draw?" asked one. I said I wanted to find out how much they knew, and didn't know, about art. Towards the end of the session, I told them to pass around and share their drawings with their classmates. There followed suppressed giggles and smiles of approval after seeing each other's work. Before they left, I told them to write and email to me a journal about their first drawing in Introduction to Art. Click on each drawing below to see all drawings turned in by the students. Hover your mouse over each drawingyesterday was the first day of instruction and i was very nervous when i step into the art classroom because i really don,t know how to draw. so when i was writting my first excercise i really feel happy.so art seems to be a very fun and exciting class to learn. to read the student-artist's journal.
