FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
YES! granted charter as non-profit corporation
YES! now stands for Young Executives Society, Inc.
President Emanuel "Manny" Mori of the Federated States of Micronesia granted the student association a non-profit corporation charter on March 13, 2014.
A Certificate of Incorporation, signed by Mr. Samari W. Suta of the National Registrar for Corporations, has also been issued to the organization on the same date.
The Young Executives Society, Inc., which has a perpetual duration unless sooner dissolved in accordance with law, has the following purposes, among others: To conduct community programs and related activities beneficial to the Federated States of Micronesia in general, and to the business and accounting students of the College of Micronesia-FSM (COM-FSM) in particular, such as:

(c) To promote COM-FSM as the recruiting ground for public and private sector employers interested in the hiring those who successfully completed their studies in the field of business administration and accounting.
(b) To assist students who major in the field of business administration/accounting to successfully complete their education and be able to apply their knowledge and skills in the work places in FSM.
(c) To promote COM-FSM as the recruiting ground for public and private sector employers interested in the hiring those who successfully completed their studies in the field of business administration and accounting.
To help finance and achieve its goals, YES! is authorized under its charter "to receive and accept grants, contributions, gifts, and donations from any person, firm, association, or corporation, or any municipality, body politic, or governmental agency or authority."
Going through the entire process – making inquiries regarding the requirements, picking up forms from the National Registrar of Corporations office in Palikir, discussing and adopting the articles of corporation and bylaws, electing initial directors and officers, signing and getting the documents notarized, filing and following up on the application of charter – enabled the students to gain hands-on experiences and helped bridge the gap between business theory and reality.
Such learning experiences enriched the students' understanding and appreciation of the A.S. Business Administration's Program Student Learning Outcome (PSLO) #5, which states that "Students will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the legal environment and ethical challenges confronting business in general and in the FSM, from both local and global perspectives."
It also addressed their Business Law (BU 271) Course Student Learning Outcome (CSLO) #2, which requires that student will be able to demonstrate "a basic understanding of the law of contracts and our legal systems as it relates to agency and employment, property, and government regulation."
