I joined the Business Division of the College of Micronesia-FSM in
January 2006 as an Accounting/Business Instructor. (Please continue reading below.)
education & experience
I came from the Philippines, where I completed my Masters Degree
in Business Administration at the National College of
Business and Arts
and my Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, major in Accounting at
Saint Michael's
College of Laguna. Before I studied accounting, I first took Fine Arts at the Far Eastern University in Manila (1972-73). A few years later, when a new college (SMCL) opened in my hometown, I applied and was accepted as a working student – painting billboards for the school. Four years later, I graduated (cum laude, 1981), took the CPA Licensure Examination given by the Philippine Board of Accountancy and, in the following year, became a Certified Public Accountant.
Before coming to Micronesia, I was college instructor of Accounting and Management courses, bank administrative officer and corporate planning head, and general manager of foreign business consulting and coordinating firms. I also published and edited a local community newspaper and newsletter.
Having served as president in 2008, I remain to this day an active in the Samahang Tagalog Atbp. sa Ponape (STAP), a regional association of Filipinos in Pohnpei whose scholarship assistance aims to encourage qualified Micronesian citizens to pursue a post-high school education.
